What Client’s Say

“We used Cynthia for our then seven-year-old daughter who was experiencing anxiety and some other emotional issues. Cynthia was great with her. She took the time to learn what our daughter liked, and used those things to get her to open up and feel comfortable. Our daughter actually looked forward to going to her therapy sessions. Cynthia was extremely instrumental in helping our daughter learn coping skills. She also was willing to work alongside her school/teacher, which I appreciated greatly. I highly recommend Cynthia and, in fact, I have recommended her to many parents.”

Child Therapy

Cynthia helps children and adolescents develop new and effective skills for behaving, coping with feelings and interacting with others. Understanding that a child’s behavior may reflect challenges and experiences in different areas of their lives, such as school, friends and family, is key. Cynthia treats the “whole” child and actively communicates with parents, educators and other professionals that may be working with your child.

Cynthia takes pride in helping your child reach his/her full potential. Each child, and each approach, is unique depending on temperament, age, gender, needs and difficulties, and may include techniques such as cognitive-behavioral strategies, process-oriented play and/or emphasis on interpersonal growth.

Cynthia works with a wide range of child and adolescent difficulties that include:

  • Depression (sadness, hopelessness, irritability, negativity)
  • Anxiety (fear, worries, nervousness)
  • Anger issues
  • ADHD/ADD and Autism Spectrum
  • School-related issues
  • Trouble with friendships
  • Aggression and acting out
  • Adjustment to family changes (e.g., separation or divorce)
  • Low self-esteem
  • Excessive shyness
  • Sleeping and eating issues
  • Coping with trauma

Cynthia understands the process of working with adolescents is often different than for younger children. Areas of focus for adolescents may include identity formation, struggle for independence, issues surrounding decision-making and problem solving. Cynthia works diligently and is passionate when it comes to our youth in America, making sure each child or teen feels comfortable by offering a non-judgmental adult who will listen, minimize blame, and focus on strengths geared to build up self-esteem and healthy life practices.
